My funny oldest sister gave me this little recipe pamphlet for my birthday. Old Farts Recipes by Anna Laural. It’s pretty funny to read through, but this recipe got my attention. My Grandmother and Mom used to make a version of this recipe when we were kids. I still make it like my Mom once in a while. Loved those two women.
The big difference with this recipe and my Mom’s are the biscuits that are placed on top and then baked. One of the smaller differences is the added flour and milk, but the finished dish was pretty good. I thought it could use a little something like hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic or maybe all three. My husband raved about it and wouldn’t change a thing. We definitely have different taste in food, but we both love to eat!

Beans, Beans, the Magical Fruit the More You Eat, the More You…
Serves 4
1-lb lean ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 can (28 oz.) Baked Beans (Bush’s preferred)
1 C milk
1 T flour
Suggested additions- garlic, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce etc.
1 1/2 t seasoned salt
1/4 pepper or to taste
1 pkg. refrigerated biscuit dough
Preheat oven to 4500 F. Over medium high heat brown ground beef and onions breaking up beef as it cooks. When the meat is browned, sprinkle meat with flour and let cook for a few minutes. Add milk, baked beans, salt and pepper. Add any suggested additions if desired. Mix and simmer 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened. Pour into an 8 x 8 baking dish. Place the biscuits on top of bean mixture. Bake 10-12 minutes until biscuits are lightly browned. The baking dish is really full and spilled over in my oven. I would suggest to place a sheet pan under the baking dish. Happy eating!
